About Julie

Julie Gates started investing in real estate in the Savannah, GA in 2004. She has built a large portfolio over the years and knows the market very well. Julie’s portfolio includes residential, commercial and self storage units.

Needing a property management company for her own rentals, Julie started Sid Was Here in 2017. Julie named Sid Was Here after her son’s squirrel rescue, which is named for his first patient, Sid.. Sid Was Here has become Savannah’s leading property management company for medium term rentals. Sid Was Here is the 6th largest short term rental management company in Savannah. Sid Was Here also manages long term rentals, commercial units and one self storage facility.

Out of management was came being a real estate agent, focused on real estate investors. Julie enjoys working with like minded investors who are focused on the return, not the color of the countertops. Julie specializes in commercial real estate as well as residential. Julie brings her many years of experience and property management to her real estate sales.

In addition to owning several companies, Julie also produces a local podcast about investing in Savannah called Cashflow Savannah. She also hosts a monthly meetup in the area, Cashflow Savannah Meetup. Julie was a featured author in the book, The 30 Day Stay, published by Bigger Pockets in 2023. Julie is a featured author for Bigger Pockets, Easy Street Capital and Forbes Business. She is currently working on a book about the journey of female entrepreneurs.
